What is the Semi finished flanges?
Semi Finished Flanges for manufacturers – these flanges are finished with forged process,also called semi finished flange,forged blanks, without machining,drilling and serration, dimension are as per the ASMR B16.5 standard with extra tolerance for further machining. Enables the Flange manufacturer to make final machining at his own workshop, also assures a faster delivery.

Common Types of Semi-Finished Flanges:
- Rough Machined Flanges – The outer and inner diameters are partially machined but require final finishing.
- Blank Flanges – Supplied without drilled bolt holes, allowing for custom hole drilling.
- Faced but Unbored Flanges – The sealing face is finished, but the bore remains unmachined for later adjustment.
- Forged Semi-Finished Flanges – Provided as forged pieces that require machining to the final dimensions.

Notes
A : For each reduction of 0.01 % below the specified carbon maximum (0.35 %), an increase of 0.06 % manganese above the specified maximum (1.05 %) will be permitted up to a maximum of 1.65 %. B : The sum of copper, nickel, chromium, molybdenum and vanadium shall not exceed 1.00 %.
C : The sum of chromium and molybdenum shall not exceed 0.32 %.

A105 Flanges Heat Treatment requirement
Heat treatment is not a mandatory requirement except for flanges above Class 300, flanges of special design where the design pressure or design temperature are not known and for items over 4” NPS and above Class 300. When heat treatment is required, annealing, normalizing, normalize and temper, normalize and quench and tempering shall be the applied methods.
