Inconel 625 Forged Disc ASME SB564 UNS N06625 Forged Ring

We are professional manufacturer of Inconel 625 Forged Disc ASME SB564 UNS N06625 Forged Ring in China.

What is a Forged disc?

A Forge Disc is typically a single-piece solid component, round shape, just like a disc, where the OD exceeds the length size.

The forging process is used to create large steel discs for use in industrial equipment, valves and other high-pressure components for the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.

Inconel 625 Disc

Inconel 625 is a nickel-based superalloy known for its high strength and resistance to pressure, oxidation, and corrosion.

The Steel Disc Forging Process

Steel disc forging is a manufacturing process where a solid steel disc is produced through the application of heat and pressure, refining the grain structure and improving strength. The process typically includes the following steps:

1. Material Selection
  • Choose the appropriate steel grade (e.g., carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel) based on the application.
  • Common grades: A105, 4140, 304,316L, 17-4PH, B564 Inconel 625,Inconel 600 etc.
2. Pre-Heating the Steel
  • The steel billet or ingot is heated in a furnace to 1,100–1,250°C (2,000–2,300°F) to make it malleable.
  • Controlled heating prevents defects such as cracks or uneven grain structure.
3. Forging the Disc
  • The heated steel is placed under a press or hammer to shape it into a disc.
  • Common forging methods:
    • Open-die forging (for large discs)
    • Closed-die forging (for precision shapes)
    • Rolled ring forging (for seamless ring-like discs)
4.  Heat Treatment
  • To enhance mechanical properties, discs undergo:
    • Annealing (softening)
    • Quenching & Tempering (strengthening)
    • Normalizing (refining grain structure)

    5 Trimming & Machining

      • Excess material (flash) is removed.
      • CNC machining or lathe operations are used for precision finishing, drilling, and contouring.
    6. Inspection & Testing
    • Ultrasonic testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) ensure internal quality.
    • Hardness, tensile, and impact tests verify mechanical properties.
What is Steel Disc Forging Used for?

Steel forged discs, also known as pancake forgings, create blind flanges for oil, gas and petrochemical pipeline applications. They are also used in the industrial equipment used in industries such as steel production, power generation and power transmission.

We manufacture custom disc forgings up to 110” OD from any material grade specified by the customer. The most common industry applications for disc forgings are blind flanges and forged tubesheets.

Our Nickel Alloy 625 Forged Discs offer exceptional strength, oxidation resistance, and superior performance in high-temperature and harsh environments. Manufactured to meet ASTM B564 / ASME SB564 standards, these forged discs are ideal for critical applications across various industries.
