ASTM A105 Flange Specification

ASTM A105/A105M ASME B16.5 Flanges Manuafacturer

The ASTM A105 flange specification is a complete technical reference for carbon steel forged flanges used in ambient and high-temperature pressure service. ASTM A105 flanges are widely applied in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, refineries, and industrial piping systems where reliable strength, weldability, and quality control are required.

This page provides a PDF datasheet including flange types, size range, chemical composition, mechanical properties, hardness, heat treatment, testing requirements, and applications.

What Is ASTM A105?

ASTM A105 / A105M is a standard specification for forged carbon steel components for pressure systems, including:

  • Flanges

  • Valves

  • Fittings

  • Similar pressure-containing parts

The standard defines chemical composition, mechanical properties, hardness limits, heat treatment, and testing to ensure safe performance under pressure.

Note: For low-temperature service, ASTM A350 LF grades are typically used instead of ASTM A105.

ASTM A105 Flange Types

The ASTM A105 flange specification  covers common flange designs including:

  • Weld Neck Flange (WN)

  • Slip On Flange (SO)

  • Blind Flange (BL)

  • Socket Weld Flange (SW)

  • Threaded Flange (TH)

  • Lap Joint Flange (LJ)

Size Range & Pressure Class

  • Nominal Pipe Size (NPS): 1/2″ – 60″

  • Pressure Class: Class 150 / 300 / 600 / 900 / 1500 / 2500

  • Facing: RF / RTJ / FF (as specified)

Standards & Dimensions

  • Material Standard: ASTM A105 / A105M

  • Flange Dimensions: ASME B16.5 and ASME B16.47 Series A & B

  • General Requirements: ASTM A961

  • Certification: EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 (optional)
