ASTM A182 F55 (UNS S32760) Specification for Flanges and Fitting
Super Duplex Stainless Steel F55 Forged Flanges & Fittings | Technical Specification PDF Download
The ASTM A182 F55 (UNS S32760) Specification provides a comprehensive technical reference for super duplex stainless steel forgings used for pipe flanges, forged fittings, valves, and pressure components. This specification covers chemical composition, mechanical properties, heat treatment requirements, manufacturing process, dimensions and tolerances, testing and inspection, and typical applications in highly corrosive and high-pressure service environments.
ASTM A182 Standard
ASTM A182 is the standard specification for forged or rolled alloy and stainless steel pipe flanges, forged fittings, valves, and parts intended for high-temperature and corrosive service. Materials manufactured to ASTM A182 are widely used in critical piping systems requiring high strength and superior corrosion resistance.
Grade F55 is a super duplex stainless steel grade covered under ASTM A182 and corresponds to UNS S32760.

Heat Treatment
ASTM A182 F55 forgings are supplied in the solution-annealed condition followed by rapid quenching. Proper heat treatment is critical to achieve correct phase balance and optimum corrosion resistance.
Manufacturing Process
ASTM A182 F55 super duplex stainless steel forgings are manufactured by:
-
Hot forging or ring rolling
-
Solution annealing and water quenching
-
Precision machining of flanges and fittings
-
Final inspection and testing
The forging process ensures refined grain structure and superior mechanical integrity.
Super Duplex F55 Products
Dimensions of ASTM A182 F55 flanges and fittings are governed by applicable dimensional standards, including:
-
ASME B16.5 / ASME B16.47 for pipe flanges
-
ASME B16.11 for forged fittings
-
Project-specific drawings for custom components
Dimensional controls include outside diameter, thickness, bore size, facing finish (RF, RTJ), and machining tolerances.
Testing & Inspection
Each ASTM A182 F55 forging may be subjected to:
-
Chemical analysis
-
Mechanical testing
-
Impact testing (when specified)
-
Non-destructive testing (UT / PT / MT, if required)
-
Dimensional and visual inspection
Mill Test Certificates (EN 10204 3.1) are typically supplied.
