Aluminium alloy 5083  is an aluminium alloy with magnesium and traces of manganese and chromium. It is highly resistant to attack by seawater and industrial chemicals.

5083-H112

5083-H112 aluminum is 5083 aluminum in the H112 temper.

H112 temper is strain hardened as the final operation, again to quickly reach the required stable temper properties.

This temper is actually just a variation on F (as-fabricated) that allows for the possibility of very limited strain hardening or heat treatment, under certain conditions.

5083-O

The most common tempers for 5083 aluminium are: O – Soft

This alloy has very good corrosion resistance (susceptible to deterioration after prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures) and moderate strength. Its weldability is a plus. It finds uses in transportation, pressure vessels, cryogenics, towers and drilling rigs, gas/oil piping, ordnance, and armor plate.

5083-H111

5083-H111 aluminum is 5083 aluminum in the H111 temper. To achieve this temper, the metal is strain hardened to a strength that is lower than what is permissible for H11 (1/8-hard).
