AWWA C207 Slip-On Flange Pressure Classes
Class B
AWWA C207 Class B slip-on flanges are typically used for low-pressure water transmission systems where large-diameter piping and economical flange solutions are required.
Class D
Class D is one of the most commonly specified pressure ratings for municipal water supply and wastewater systems, offering a balanced combination of pressure capacity and cost efficiency.
Class E
AWWA C207 Class E slip-on flanges are designed for applications requiring higher pressure ratings, such as long-distance water transmission pipelines and elevated pumping systems.
Class F
Class F provides the highest pressure rating under AWWA C207 and is selected for demanding waterworks applications where increased design pressure and safety margins are required.
AWWA Flanges can be made of A105 Flange grade.widely used in steel water pipe connection.

Materials Available for AWWA C207 Slip-On Flanges
AWWA C207 slip-on flanges are available in a range of carbon steel materials suitable for waterworks and municipal piping applications. Material selection is based on project specifications, pressure requirements and environmental conditions.
Commonly supplied materials include:
-
Carbon Steel (A36 equivalent) – widely used for general water transmission and distribution systems
- Carbon Steel ASTM A105
-
All materials used for AWWA C207 slip-on flanges comply with applicable AWWA C207 requirements and are selected to ensure reliability, durability and long-term service performance in waterworks applications.
Steel-Ring vs Hubbed AWWA C207 Slip-On Flange
AWWA C207 slip-on flanges are available in steel-ring and hubbed designs.
Steel-ring flanges are commonly used for large-diameter applications due to their reduced weight and material efficiency. Hubbed slip-on flanges provide additional rigidity and are preferred where enhanced structural support is required.
The choice between steel-ring and hubbed construction depends on pipe size, installation conditions and project specifications.
AWWA C207 Slip-On Flange vs AWWA B16.5 Flange
AWWA C207 slip-on flanges and ASME B16.5 flanges are designed for different application standards. AWWA C207 flanges are primarily used in waterworks and municipal piping systems, focusing on large diameters and lower pressure ratings.
In contrast, ASME B16.5 flanges are intended for industrial piping systems with higher pressure-temperature ratings and smaller nominal pipe sizes. For water transmission and distribution projects involving large-diameter steel pipe, AWWA C207 slip-on flanges are generally the preferred solution.
