Inconel 718 is a nickel-chromium alloy that contains supplemental amounts of columbium, iron, molybdenum, aluminum, and titanium. It is also known as nickel alloy 718.
Inconel 718® ,known as N07718 is a precipitation hardened nickel-based alloy designed to display exceptionally high yield, tensile and creep-rupture properties at temperatures up to 1300°F (704°C). The age-hardening response of Inconel 718 permits annealing and welding without spontaneous hardening during heating and cooling. Nickel Alloy 718 has excellent weldability when compared to the nickel-base super alloys hardened by aluminum and titanium.
Inconel 718 is a high-strength, high-temperature resistant and corrosion resistant nickel-chromium alloy. It is suitable for use at cryogenic temperatures and also for use in air up to 1300 F. The alloy is readily worked and can be age-hardened.
Applications for Inconel 718 include gas turbine hot section components and cryogenic storage tanks.
