Spiral Wound Gasket

Spiral Wound Gasket is Filler materials used are Graphite, Non asbestos material, PTFE..Inner & Outer Rings are also used as per customer specifications.

ASME B16.20 Spirak Wound Gasket, which is sophistically made by spirally winding a pre-formed metal strip and stuffing on the external periphery of metal winding mandrels. Moreover, our gaskets find extensive application in oil refineries power plants, petro chemical industries and marine fertilizer industries. Further, these spiral wound metallic gaskets are well known for its strength and brilliant performance.

Spiral Wound gasket ASME B16.20 is available in different materials in accordance to ASME B 16.20 for use in all industry flanges, including ASME/ANSI B16.5, ASME B16.47, Series A & B. Winding Materials include Stainless Steel, Inconel, Monel, Nickel, Titanium, etc

Products are manufactured in accordance with all relevant gasket standards to suit flange designations: ASME B 16.20, ASME B 16.5, BS1560, ASME B 16.47 A (B), BS EN 1092, DIN, JIS, and NF, etc. Color cord as ASME B 16.20 on request.

Spiral wound gasket

Spiral Wound Gasket is composed of a steel outer ring, a spiral wound sealing strip filler and a special steel inner ring. It is created by winding alternating strips of metal and filler material.

Outer guide ring is fitted to centralise the gasket between the bolts and to act as a compression limiter. Inner ring is fitted to reduce the gap between the inside diameter of the gasket and the bore of the flange.

It is widely used in moderate to critical services in various industries. They are most suitable for the gaskets subject to extreme temperature or pressure cycling, shock or vibration. These gaskets have the best resistance property when compare with other metal and asbestos type gaskets.

Spiral wound gasket from /CG/CGI/IR/R Type
1.Products are manufactured in accordance with all relevant gasket standards.
2.All types of Spiral wound gaskets can be manufactured, CG, CGI, R, RIR, etc.
3.Our production capacity is 150,000 pcs per month.
4.Material combinations for all operating conditions.

Our spiral wound gaskets have 4 types:

1.SW600-R Basic Type
Basic construction type, inner and outer diameters are reinforced with several piles of metal without filler to give greater stability and better compression characteristics. – Suitable for tongue and groove, male and female or grooved to flat face flange assemblies.

  • Reinforced spiral wound gasket (Style R). It is a basic configuration of spiral wound gasket. The Inner and outer diameters are reinforced with several plies of metal without filler to give greater stability and better compression and sealing characteristics.

2.SW600-IR Inner Ring Type
Solid inner metal ring acts as a compression stopper. To prevent accumulation of solids, reduce turbulent flow of process fluids and minimize erosion, damages of gasket between flange bore and the inside diameter, the annular space is filled up by solid inner metal ring. – Suitable for male and female pipe flanges.

  • Reinforced inner ring spiral wound gasket (Style RIR). This style of the gasket, the solid inner metal ring acts as a compression stop and fills the annular space between flange bore and the inside diameter of the gasket. It is designed to prevent accumulation of solids, reduce turbulent flow of process fluids and minimize erosion at flange faces.

3.SW600-CG Outer Ring Type
Solid outer ring accurately locates the gasket on the flange face to give the additional radial strength to prevent the gasket blowout and acts as a compression limiter. In case of installing the outer ring, it is very easy to install the gasket to flange face because the end of outer ring will touch at bolts – Suitable for use with flat face and raised face flanges. For class 900 and above an internal ring is recommended.

  • Centering gasket (Style CG). Utilizes an external ring which accurately centers gasket on flange face. It provide an additional radial strength to prevent the gasket blow-out and acts as a compression stop. A general purpose gasket suitable for both flat face and raised face flanges.

4.SW600-CGI Inner & Outer Rings Type
A inner ring and outer ring type gasket will give an additional compression limiting stopper for gasket inner and outer side. It will prevent the corrosions on flange face at annular space. – Suitable for use with flat face and raised face flanges and specified for high pressure / temperature service – Class 900 and above or where corrosive or toxic media are present.

  • Centering gasket with inner ring (Style CGI). This style is similar to style CG, but it additionally consists of an inner ring. The outer ring is used for centering and the internal ring used as an additional compression limiting stop. The internal ring also serves as a barrier to protect the gasket from heat and corrosion.

There are three components in spiral wound gasket.

  • Outer Ring
  • Winding Material (Filler & Metal Strip)
  • Inner Ring

The filler material can be graphite, PTFE, ceramic or other material depends on the service of the fluid. Spot welding normally secures the inner and outer ends of the strip that wrap the filler material; the gasket is contained loosely in an outer backing ring.

All CG and CGI Gaskets for these standard flanges are 0.175 in (4.5mm) thick, fitted with 0.125 in (3.2mm) thick solid metal rings, unless otherwise stated.

When you order the gasket, please specify the size, pressure and material for the gasket
