What is ASTM A182 F53 Flange?
ASTM A182 F53 is a material specification for forged flanges made from duplex stainless steel (specifically 2507 duplex stainless steel). This alloy combines the advantages of both austenitic and ferritic stainless steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, and resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC). F53 flanges are forged for high-pressure applications where strength and durability are crucial for maintaining system integrity.

F53 is a high alloy duplex stainless steel. F53 has excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion resistance compared with the ordinary austenitic or duplex types. Due to this F53 stainless steel is used primarily in highly corrosive conditions.

S32750 is a super duplex stainless steel supplied in the solution annealed condition. As a super duplex stainless steel, it combines the desirable aspects of both austenitic and ferritic grades. The higher chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen contents result in a Pitting Resistance Equivalent number (PREN) of >41, providing pitting and crevice corrosion resistance superior to austenitic and duplex stainless steels in almost all corrosive media, and a Critical Pitting Temperature exceeding 50°C.
