ASTM A234 WPB equal tees and reducing tees are carbon steel butt-weld pipe fittings used to connect branch pipelines in pressure piping systems.
Manufactured in accordance with ASME B16.9, these tees are available in equal (straight) tee and reducing tee configurations.
For sour service applications, ASTM A234 WPB tees can be supplied with controlled chemical composition, hardness limits, and additional testing to comply with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 requirements.

NACE MR 0175 is a Materials Standard issued by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers.It intended to assess the suitability of materials for oilfield equipment where sulphide (sulfide) stress corrosion cracking may be a risk in hydrogen sulphide (sour) environments. This standard specifies the types of corrosion resistant materials including stainless steels that can be used in specific oilfield environments and places limits on the hardness of the material.
NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 gives requirements and recommendations for the selection and qualification of carbon and low-alloy steels, corrosion-resistant alloys, and other alloys for service in equipment used in oil and natural gas production and natural gas treatment plants in H2S-containing environments, whose failure could pose a risk to the health and safety of the public and personnel or to the equipment itself.

ASTM A234 WPB TEE Dimensions
Pipe Tee dimensions are covered in ASME B16.9. Refer to the table given below for the size 1/2″ to 48″. In piping, two types of tees are used, straight or equal and reducing tee. The following shall be checked during the inspection of Pipe Tee Dimensions.
- The diameter of the branch and run pipe
- The thickness of the tee
- Center to center dimension for branch
- Length of the tee.
All dimensions are in “mm” unless noted otherwise.
