What is API 5L X65 PSL2?

API 5L X65 is a high-strength pipeline steel grade with a minimum yield strength of 65,000 psi (450 MPa).

PSL refers to Product Specification Level:

  • PSL1 – Basic quality level

  • PSL2 – Enhanced quality level with stricter chemical, mechanical, and testing requirements

PSL2 includes mandatory impact testing, stricter chemical composition limits, and additional non-destructive testing requirements.
