What Is EN AW-6060 Aluminum?
EN AW-6060 is a wrought, heat-treatable aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy primarily used for extruded tubes, profiles and structural components.
It is closely related to 6063 aluminum but generally contains a narrower and slightly lower magnesium range. The alloy is valued for:
- Excellent extrudability
- Good surface appearance
- Good anodizing performance
- Good atmospheric corrosion resistance
- Good weldability
- Moderate strength
- Low material density
6060 is commonly used for architectural extrusions, furniture components, lighting profiles, equipment frames, tubes and customized industrial sections.
It should not be described as a high-strength aerospace alloy. Where higher structural strength is required, materials such as 6061, 6005A or 6082 may be more suitable, depending on the product form and project specification.

Final chemical acceptance must follow EN 573-3, the applicable material specification and the supplied material certificate. Hydro identifies EN AW-6060 as an Al-Mg-Si extrusion alloy with the above principal composition ranges.
EN AW-6060-T6 Mechanical Properties
Mechanical properties depend on the product form, temper, wall thickness and governing standard.
For EN AW-6060-T6 extruded products, representative minimum values are generally around:

The original values of 470 MPa tensile strength and 420 MPa yield strength are not representative of standard EN AW-6060-T6 extruded tubes or profiles.
EN 755-2:2025 specifies mechanical-property limits obtained from tensile testing of aluminum and aluminum-alloy extruded bars, tubes and profiles. The actual guaranteed values must be taken from the applicable thickness range, product form and material certificate.
These raw-material properties should not automatically be assigned to a completed formed or welded tee. Welding can locally reduce the strength of the T6 heat-affected zone.
6060 Aluminum Equal Tee
A 6060 aluminum equal tee connects three pipes with the same nominal diameter.
